of these activities? The activities
and competitive events of the organization
are designed to give students additional career
and technology training to extend what they
receive in the classroom. These activities
also offer the opportunity to experience leadership
and meet new people.
What types of competitive
events are there? There are competitive
events available for nearly every interest
and ability and they all focus on the types
of activities done in today's businesses.
There are numerous computer events including:
graphics, presentations, and programming.
Other computer events involve using specific
software and applications such as word processing,
spreadsheets and database. There are speaking
events and competitions in the accounting
area as well as many more events. Most are
individual competitions but there are some
team events such as parliamentary procedures,
financial analyst, presentation graphics and
website development.

of succeeding? Your chances of succeeding
are very good if you are willing to put in
a little extra time and effocrt into practicing.
What are the benefits
to me? You will have the opportunity
to belong to an organization where you can
practice the workplace skills you learn in
class in a competitive setting. You can receive
recognition for winning at competitions as
well as for participating in other awards
programs in business professionals of America.
Officers and members recieve leadership training
and have the opportunity for travel. Scholarships
are awarded and available for active members.
Also, being active in this orginization and
having a high grade point average will make
you eligible for the Career and Technology
National Honor Society. Perhaps the greatest
benefit is in the skills, leadership and friendship
that you will build. |
