Credit Options

Flower Mound High School provides many opportunities for students to earn credits for recovery or acceleration.  See your counselor for more information.

Credit for Remediation

Correspondence Courses - Correspondence/on-line courses offered through Texas Tech University Extended Studies Program.  Students register online. Take course from home and have 6 months to complete. You will take your final exam in FMHS testing office.  Cost - $125 per 1/2 credit plus cost of books.  Students can only take up to 2.0 credits of correspondence courses.

Credit by Exams - Credit-by-exams are offered to students that need to repeat a course due to failure.  Absent/fails are not eligible for CBE. See your counselor to order exam.  You will take the CBE in the FMHS testing office.  Prepare for exams by accessing above CBE link.  Cost - $30 per exam.

Night School - Earn credits from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. at an accelerated pace. See your counselor for information and to apply. Free of charge.

FMHS Credit Recovery - After school program in which students work at their own pace on computer program to earn credit.  4:30 - 6:30 in FMHS Library Access Lab.  Free of charge.

Summer School - Students can take summer school through LISD or any other school district.  Prices vary.  Summer school dates are posted and more information will be available in the spring.

Credit for Acceleration

LISD Virtual Learning Academy Courses - Free online courses offered every 9 weeks. Choose from Health (8-12), BCIS (8-12), Government, or Economics.
To register for course:
1. Go to Virtual Learning Academy, print the student contract. Give completed/signed contract to your counselor.
2. You will receive access to your requested class on the first day of each semester.

Credit for Acceleration Exams - Offered to students to earn additional credit.  A student must earn a 90% or above to receive credit.  See your counselor to order exam.  You will take the CBE in the FMHS testing office.  No cost. Testing tips for exams.

Night School
Dale Jackson courses (Animation, Advertising Design, AutoTech, Cosmetology and Health Science Technology) and NCTC Dual Enrollment courses are available for students from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. See your counselor for more information and to enroll.


Dual Enrollment

The Dual Credit program at NCTC provides an opportunity for eligible juniors and senior high school students to enroll in college-level courses AND earn both college credit and high school credit simultaneously—by taking NCTC classes at any NCTC campus and/or at their high schools and/or online. College tuition - $153 per class. If enrolled in Free/Reduced Lunch program, see your counselor about tuition waiver.
