Future Business Leaders of America

About FBLA. The FBLA concept was developed in 1937 by Dr. Hamden L. Forkner of Columbia University. The first high school chapter was chartered in Johnson City, Tennessee on february 3, 1942. In 1958, the first PBL collegiate chapter was chartered in Iowa. The Professional Division, originally the Alumni Division, began in 1979. Joining FBLA-PBL in 1994 was the FBLA - Middle Level for students in grades 5-9.

Who can join? Students interested in business and/or business related careers can join FBLA.

What are the main activities? the date for events this year are:
Area VII Conference: February 2 at TCU
State Leadership Conference: April 10-12, Houston
National Leadership Conference: June 26-29, Atlanta, GA

Conferences allow students to interact with other like minded students and professionals. Competitive events are related to many of the classes students take in high school and the skills they will need later in their professional careers.

There are many benefits to membership with FBLA. They include the ability to practice leadership skills, create lifelong friendships at the chapter, state and national levels. Members have the ability to compete in events to showcase their skills.
